FPEC Paddle Blender Refurbishment From Start to Finish
A look at how our team restored the drive system and prepared this industrial blender for its next production line.
At M&M Equipment Corp., refurbishing a machine means going beyond appearance. Our team disassembles, cleans, inspects, services, reassembles, and tests the equipment so customers can see the work completed before the machine returns to production. These photos show the transformation of an FPEC 1,000-lb. paddle blender from its original condition through the final stages of refurbishment.
Before Refurbishment
When the blender arrived, the enclosed drive area showed heavy surface corrosion on the large sprockets, smaller drive sprockets, chains, and surrounding metal surfaces. The Nord motor and gearbox assemblies also showed wear and corrosion on their exterior surfaces.
Our technicians began with a full visual inspection of the blender, including the dual paddle shafts, drive assemblies, gearboxes, discharge system, safety cover, guards, and mounting points. This inspection helped determine what needed to be removed, cleaned, serviced, and refinished.
Disassembly and Cleaning
The motor and gearbox assemblies, chains, and related drive components were removed to provide access to the areas behind the guards. Disassembling the drive system allowed our team to inspect the shafts, sprockets, mounting points, and stainless steel cabinet more closely.
The components and surrounding surfaces were then cleaned to remove residue, corrosion, and buildup. This work created a clean foundation for servicing and reassembly.
Servicing the Drive System
Once the components were accessible, our technicians focused on the blender’s dual-shaft drive system. The sprockets and related components were cleaned and prepared for reassembly, while the shaft connections and drive mounting areas were inspected.
The dual Nord 5-hp motors and Nord 32.9:1 gearboxes were cleaned, serviced, refinished, and prepared for installation. Refinishing the exterior helped protect the assemblies while giving the completed machine a clean, professional appearance.
Reassembly and Final Testing
After the cleaning and service work was complete, the drive system was reassembled. The chains were installed around the large and small sprockets, the Nord motor and gearbox assemblies were returned to position, and the protective guards were prepared for installation.
The refurbished blender was then checked for proper dual-shaft paddle movement, drive operation, pneumatic discharge-door operation, and safety-component function. Final checks and adjustments helped confirm that the machine operated as expected before the refurbishment was completed.
Ready for Its Next Production Line
From the first inspection through final reassembly and testing, each stage of this refurbishment focused on returning the FPEC paddle blender to clean, dependable operating condition.
