Your Options

Four ways to turn surplus into cash

Selling idle equipment is not one-size-fits-all. Every option below is run by the same team, with the same standard of service — and we will tell you honestly which one fits your equipment and your timeline.

OPTION 01

Outright Cash Purchase

The fastest, simplest exit. We buy your equipment directly and pay you, so you clear the floor without waiting on a buyer.

  • Immediate offer and payment
  • No commissions or waiting period
  • We handle removal and rigging

OPTION 02

Consignment & Brokerage

Keep ownership while we market your machine to the right buyer and negotiate the best price on your behalf, drawing on our global customer base.

  • Higher net return than a quick sale
  • We market, vet buyers, and close
  • You pay only when it sells
Best for: specialized or higher-value machines worth holding for the right buyer.
OPTION 03

Auctions — by M&M Auctions

Our auction division runs online and managed auctions that create competition among qualified buyers and sell multiple assets on a defined timeline.

  • Transparent, market-driven pricing
  • Marketed to our buyer network worldwide
  • Full cataloging, bidding, and settlement
Best for: multiple machines or a full line you want sold on a set schedule.
OPTION 04

Asset Recovery & Liquidation

Closing a plant or consolidating operations? We manage the entire surplus program end to end — from appraisal and inventory through marketing, sale, and removal.

  • Single point of contact for the whole project
  • Structured program to maximize recovery
  • Coordinated rigging, logistics, and timelines

Questions, Answered

Selling your equipment through M&M

M&M Equipment Corp. and M&M Auctions offer four distinct paths for turning idle or surplus equipment into cash. The right path depends on your timeline, the type of equipment, and how much control you want over the sale. Here are the questions we hear most about each option.

1

Brokerage Listed for Sale

We list and market it; your equipment stays at your facility until it sells.

Brokerage means your equipment stays at your facility while M&M lists it for sale on our website and markets it to our network of processors and plant managers. We handle the marketing, buyer inquiries, negotiation, payments, and logistics. You retain ownership and possession until a sale is finalized.

Brokerage works well for sellers who want to keep equipment operational or in place until a buyer is confirmed, who have specialized or higher-value machinery that benefits from targeted marketing rather than an auction timeline, or who are not in a rush to liquidate.

No. One of the main advantages of brokerage is that the equipment stays where it is. Buyers typically inspect on-site, and we coordinate rigging and logistics only after a deal is confirmed.

We work on a commission basis, taken as a percentage of the final sale price. There is no upfront cost to list equipment with us.

It varies by equipment type, condition, and market demand. Specialized processing and packaging equipment with a narrower buyer pool can take longer than commonly used items. We will give you a realistic read on demand before listing.

2

Consignment Prepared & sold from our facility

It comes to our facility to be cleaned, inspected, photographed, and sold.

With consignment, the equipment physically comes to our facility. We take possession, which allows us to clean, inspect, photograph, and in some cases test or refurbish it before marketing it for sale. Brokerage leaves the equipment at your site; consignment brings it to ours.

Consignment is the better option when equipment needs to be decommissioned from an active plant or when you need the space, when a cleaner presentation will meaningfully improve sale price, or when you want the item off your books and out of your facility rather than waiting on-site for a buyer.

We can, depending on the machine and the added value it creates for the sale. We will discuss the scope and cost of any refurbishment work before proceeding.

We coordinate freight and rigging as part of the consignment process. Costs are typically addressed in the consignment agreement. Usually, we will cover the upfront cost of bringing the equipment to our facility and bill the client for it once the equipment sells.

Consignment is also commission-based, though the rate can differ from a straight brokerage listing to account for the handling, storage, and any additional labor involved.

3

Auction Services Competitive bidding on a set date

Competitive bidding that produces a firm result on a defined timeline.

Auctions are the right tool for plant closures, full facility liquidations, or situations where a defined sale date is more valuable to you than maximizing time on the market. Auctions create competitive bidding pressure and produce a firm result on a set timeline.

Both formats are available. Plant closures and large equipment lots are often sold on-site, while smaller lots may be consolidated and sold through our facility or online auction platform. We often conduct monthly or quarterly consignment auctions from our facility.

Timing depends on the scope of the liquidation, but auctions are generally the fastest path to a firm sale date compared to brokerage or consignment, since the event itself sets the deadline.

Auctions are driven by competitive bidding among engaged buyers, which we build through targeted marketing to our industry network. That said, auction pricing is inherently market-driven and results can vary by lot. We will give you a candid assessment of expected auction value before you commit to this route.

Auction services are structured around a commission or fee arrangement specific to the scope of the liquidation. We will lay out the full structure during the initial assessment. In some cases, we may also consider an outright purchase of all your assets rather than a commission structure.

4

Outright Purchase We buy it directly

We buy your equipment directly and pay you immediately.

Yes. M&M Equipment purchases used food processing and packaging equipment outright when it fits our inventory and resale strategy. In this case, you are paid immediately and M&M assumes full ownership and risk of resale.

An outright sale is the right choice when speed and certainty matter more than maximizing price. You are paid right away, with no dependency on finding a buyer, no commission, and no waiting on a sale process.

We base offers on the equipment's condition, market demand, resale timeline, and our own inventory needs. Because we are assuming the resale risk, an outright offer will generally be lower than a projected brokered or auction sale price, but it removes all uncertainty and timeline risk from your side.

Outright purchases are typically the fastest of all four options. Once we agree on price, payment and equipment removal can often be arranged within days.

Yes. This is common in plant closures and larger liquidations, where we will purchase certain assets directly and handle the remainder through consignment, brokerage, or auction, depending on what makes sense for each piece of equipment.

5

Choosing the Right Option Not sure which path fits?

Not sure which path fits? Start here.

It depends on three factors: how quickly you need to convert the equipment to cash, whether you want to retain any control over price and timing, and whether the equipment needs to leave your facility. Outright purchase is fastest and requires the least involvement on your part. Auction is best for full liquidations with a hard deadline. Consignment suits equipment that benefits from being off-site and prepared for sale. Brokerage suits equipment that can stay in place while we find the right buyer. We are glad to walk through your specific situation and recommend the approach that fits.
